I have worked with many in the fitness industry and it can be hard to “stand out from the crowd”.
Here are some tips to help you on your way.
1. Who is your Niche Market?
Don’t try to be all things to all people. Keep in mind why you went into business and who you are passionate about helping. Yes there are other fitness businesses out there but what makes you different? When we start out in business we really struggle to know what direction it is that we are taking. Often we are struggling financially starting out and take whatever clients come our way! But you know what; we must do what we are passionate about, and remember who we want to help.
- Who you are and what your business stands for?
- What you do?
- What are you strengths & Weaknesses?
- What can you do to stand out from the crowd?
2. Don’t reinvent the wheel! Marketing to your new niche
What do I mean by this I hear you say! Now that you KNOW exactly who your niche is, you must find out why are the leaders in that field, weight lifting, weight loss, fat loss, body building, athletes etc.
Find out what they do and how they do it, where they hang out. Learn from them and use what you have learned to market your business.
3. Where do your potential clients hang out?
- Are they women/men or both?
- What ages are they?
- Who are they, why type of lifestyle have they?
- Where do they live?
- Are the professionals?
4. Build your Empire!
Start your Youtube , Facebook Live, Periscope channel. If you are like me and we are not used to getting in front of the computer and sticking the camera on us, well guess what we have to do, embrace it and get on with it! It’s a quick and easy marking tool that you can use across all your social media channels.
5. Get involved with a local charity
This will help you with visibility, create word of mouth around the local community and generate some free PR. Organize an event or a run! Get people out for a free yoga class, boot camp class. Think outside the box!
6. Build your brand and community by giving back.
Create some free recipes that they can use and share with others. Give a free fitness and nutrition talk in your gym or local community center. Hustle! Reach out to the local businesses, offer free classes to large and medium size. At that stage you are creating a new habit, building your community and your fitness empire!
7. Ask for referrals
This one is really hard, because we are not natural born sellers and often asking for referrals is like asking for help and you are the one supposed to be helping! This is the stage in your business where you have built up a trusted relationship with your clients. You have helped them change their life and they will be more than happy to give back and help you out!”
